The model is called DoreWestbury Mk2 but there does not seem to be much info around on how to convert it into a CNC mill. There is a good possibility that this was made from a kit. It is a nice little machine for that type of use. As far as a CNC conversion I haven't heard much either.

Yeh, the Dore Westbury is indeed a unique mill, not least as it was originally sold in kit form, which comprised a set of plans, a book containing all the machining procedures and notes, a set of partly machined castings and all the materials to make the various levers and such.

The instructions specify 0 to 360 rpm, but a brief high speed test on the Dore Westbury got it reading up to 3450 rpm, so the instructions should probably say 0 to 3600. The Halfords computer can now go on my pushbike to encourage harder pedalling as I go out to buy The Times after breakfast.

DoreWestbury Mill. I have recently acquired a MK1, which seems to be in fairly good condition, just needing rewire with NVR + Estop and general clean, oil and grease. I thought that while dismantled, I would measure certain parts and weigh all, as I recall someone recently querying how heavy.

142 photos. The standard internal spindle taper for Dore Westbury is 2 Morse Taper, so any tooling for that will do, plus a drawbar of course to match the tooling. If the machine has been built to design spec. there will be a Myford size threaded nose on the spindle end which can be used to hold a collet chuck.
